How low can you go

I won’t beat around the bush here: it was the most painful episode of The L Word (OG and Gen Q) I ever had to watch. Deliberate choice of the words “had to”, as I really felt I should write about it, even though after seeing the very first scene in the ambulance already made me want to turn off my TV. But hey, I’m a tough cookie, so just shouting at my device when events really became too far stretched and ridiculous to even be remotely believable, helped me through.

All about our love…

After all this time, as a small tribute to this iconic couple, a “throwback”:
Those who were there for it will remember the elated excitement the morning these screeners came out just a few hours before the last episode “Last Word” aired (March 8th, 2009), with the song that was originally meant for the last Tibette love scene (All about our love, by Sade).

L for Longevity

We were talking about longevity, a word that keeps coming up when the desired storylines for The L Word are being discussed on social media. Longevity in lesbian relationships specifically, because representation matters, and as yet there are far too few (if any) long lasting lesbian relationships portrayed in TV-shows.

The holy grail

When two people have put in so much time and effort, so much hardship, so much personal growth and mutual respect and understanding, and they still haven’t been able to make their relationship work in an enduring way, should we really want to force them, pressuring our image of what is right and wrong onto them? Is one specific relationship, with one specific person, the holy grail just because we want or need it to be?

Whatever it is that makes them splash off our screens, there is an undeniable understanding between them. They know each other’s core, they realize the gem in it and how it requires protection and shelter.
