“I want to say thank you to all the fans, because we really wouldn’t be back there without them, you know, and I’m so happy that people love this relationship of Bette and Tina as much as Jen and I do, as much as we love these characters and love this family…”
I gave it to the universe and it handed me back my request in an even more extraordinary package of playing in an iconic, wonderful, lesbian love story. And it was fantastic. It was more than I even knew what to ask for. And I’m incredibly grateful…

After all this time, as a small tribute to this iconic couple, a “throwback”:
Those who were there for it will remember the elated excitement the morning these screeners came out just a few hours before the last episode “Last Word” aired (March 8th, 2009), with the song that was originally meant for the last Tibette love scene (All about our love, by Sade).

What could easily have been the most beautiful, heartwarming, goosebumps reunion, in an endless amount of better and more believable scenarios, was now presented to us in a cringeworthy, disposable, romcom dream…
The New Year is just around the corner. For many people a time to reflect and make New Year’s resolutions. So did these ladies #waybackwhen
Here’s the thing. It’s been way longer than nine months, and there’s no sign that you’re moving on. But, hey, we’re glad you’re still here – and we love that you have hope. We’re still here, too. And we’re just as curious as you are to see how this story plays out.
We wrote it. We shot it. We loved it. But the network didn’t. It was the rare instance in which we had a creative disagreement. Our executives simply felt that it was too soon for us to be spoofing ourselves. They felt that it was something to be attempted in a third or a fourth season, but not at the end of the first season, when the audience was still bonding with these characters.
Back in the day ourchart.com was groundbreaking. It “invented” interconnectivity even before Facebook took the stage. A website where LGBTQ+ could meet up with each other, share stories, discuss their favorite show, get links...

For season 3 of The L Word, showrunner Marja Lewis-Ryan had the option to choose either of the two endings to this saying: “all good things come to those who wait” or “all good things must come to an end”. However, she decided she’s not the choosing type and, much to the dismay and rage of all the loyal fans, she ran with both options.

I won’t beat around the bush here: it was the most painful episode of The L Word (OG and Gen Q) I ever had to watch. Deliberate choice of the words “had to”, as I really felt I should write about it, even though after seeing the very first scene in the ambulance already made me want to turn off my TV. But hey, I’m a tough cookie, so just shouting at my device when events really became too far stretched and ridiculous to even be remotely believable, helped me through.
I gave it to the universe and it handed me back my request in an even more extraordinary package of playing in an iconic, wonderful, lesbian love story. And it was fantastic. It was more than I even knew what to ask for. And I’m incredibly grateful…

We were talking about longevity, a word that keeps coming up when the desired storylines for The L Word are being discussed on social media. Longevity in lesbian relationships specifically, because representation matters, and as yet there are far too few (if any) long lasting lesbian relationships portrayed in TV-shows.
